Founders' Day Celebration :
On 20th January 2004, the college celebrated its 187th Founders' Day. The celebrations started with the garlanding of the
Foundation Plaque and ceremonial lighting of the lamp in memory of the Founders' at the Arts library hall by the college Principal Prof. Amitava Chatterjee. The main Founders' day meeting was held at the
Derozio Auditorium. In the year 2004, Prof. Dilip Sinha, former Vice-Chancellor, Viswa Bharati University presided over the meeting. Sri Probodh Chandra Sinha, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of
West Bengal was the Chief Guest. A special cultural programme was a major event of this year's Founders' day celebration. The college choir presented a collage of Dance and Music. The meeting was followed by
the Annual Reunion at the College lawn organised by the Alumni Association. Derozio's Birthday Celebration :
On the occasion of 195th Derozio's birthday
celebration were held on 17th April 2004. |

Formal inauguration of the First year undergraduate classes: On 19th August 2004, First Year undergraduate classes for the session 2004-2005 were
formally inaugurated at the Derozio Hall. At the end of the programme, the students of the respective departments were escorted to the department by the respective heads, where the students were
introduced to all the teachers of the department. Aids Awareness Camp : Under the supervision of Dr. Arijit Roy and Dr. Sankar Bose, NSS Unit of the college
organized a whole day awareness camp on Aids on 21st December in collaboration with Thought Foundation. |

The college at the moment has 108 endowments amounting to a total of Rs. 32,78,950.00. This fund, which has been
raised by the generous donations from former teachers, alumni and well-wishers, is used in awarding prizes, scholarships and organising college programmes and seminars. Endowments that have been received in the last one
year include a donation of Rs. 50,000 from Smt. Bina Ghosh in memory of her husband and son Late Narayan Chandra Ghosh and Dipak Chandra Ghosh respectively, both of whom were alumnus of the college. Sri Partha Sarathi
Sengupta has donated a sum of Rs. 1,00,000/- in memory of his friend Late Udayan Mukherjee to create a debate endowment. Incidentally Udayan Mukherjee was about to create an endowment for debate in the name of 'Derozio
Challenge Trophy' but unfortunately he passed away suddenly. In the current year a sum of Rs. 7500/- was distributed to the departments for organizing seminars from the 175th
Anniversary trust fund. A total of Rs. Rs. 65,805/- has been disbursed to 45 students towards payment of examination fees, tour-funds, purchase of books etc. from the Poor Students' Fund. |

Rabindra Parishad |
In early May a small programme was arranged in the portico to celebrate Rabindra Jayanti -
the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. A "shruti natak", a few songs and dances were performed. On the 10th of September "Rabindra Smarane" - a special programme in remembrance of
Tagore was organised in Derozio Hall. The acclaimed dance-drama "Chitrangada" was performed by the students of the college. The programme was directed by Sukanya Sarbadhicary. A translation of
Tagore's play " The Prince and the Rebel"–– "Raja Ebong Rajodrohi", directed by Sri Pratyay Nath was also performed. |

Social Service League |
A successful clothes drive was conducted in August on behalf of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha
by members of the League. Cleaning the college has also been the pet project of the League. The members often took the initiative to have the college cleaned. |

|
Debating Society |
A debate on the topic - "India is shining". was conducted on 28th April, 2004 .
The judges were: Prof. Dipanjan Rai Chaudhuri and Prof. Subhas Ranjan Chakraborty. The winners were Sri Milinda Banerjee (History) and Sri Subhodeep Chakraborty (Pol. Science). The traditional Derozio
Memorial Debate was held in Januray, 2005. |

Chalachchitra Samsad |
On the 28th and 29th of September, 2004, the samsad organised the annual film festival
screening the films : Goopy Gayen Bagha Bayen, Interview, Mandi and Apocalypse Now. |

|
Drama |
Organised in association with the British Council, Drama-ties, the annual inter-college
drama competition was held on the 25th Sep, 2004. The play put up by Presidency College – "The Universal Circus Presents The Chaos Theory" won the award for Best Team Work. |

|
Sports |
An inter-departmental football tournament was held during September, 2004. The annual
athletic meet was held on the 9th and 10th of December |
|

|
|
Other Events |
On 14th September, 2004 , a seminar was held at the Physics Lecture Theatre on :
"Hypnotism : Science and Superstition". On 16th September, a blood donation camp was organised where 73 people donated blood. On the 4th and 5th of October, a film
festival was held. Milieu, the annual college festival was held in February, 2005. |

College Choir |
The Presidency College Choir is now on the threshold of its teens. With the encouragement of
the college authorities and the guardianship of a few staff members of the college, the Choir is maturing every year. |
|

Government Eden Hindu Hostel |
Government Eden Hindu Hostel was established in the year 1886. Since its inception this
Hostel has been one of the best students' hostels of this country and still continues to do so. With changing time and in a secular country like ours this Hostel has attracted students from all religion,
caste and creed. |

Girls' Hostel |
Presidency College Girls' Hostel is now seven years old. This Hostel offers accommodation
for girl students coming from distant places. In the maintenance of the Hostel, the authorities try to reflect the positive traditions and ideals that Presidency College itself stands for -- Indian ideals of
care, assurance and equality.The Hostel comprises 92 boarders that include 80 students of the U.G. level and 12 boarders of the P.G. level. Five of these boarders are from other colleges.
